Hosting A Wellness Day Retreat at Serana
This past Sunday, we hosted a day retreat at Serana. About fifteen women drove in from Austin and Houston to spend the day in community, enjoying each other's company while doing some yoga and intention setting for the New Year.
Yoga, Breath, and Sound
The group moved to our yoga deck, a platform nestled among the post oak trees in the field. The trees create a natural container, filtering light and holding sound in a way that makes the space feel more intimate.
For two hours, they moved through yoga and breathwork before settling into a sound bath.
Lunch and Time to Yourself
Lunch was handmade from organic ingredients: quinoa salad with avocado lemon sauce, roasted broccoli and sweet potatoes, pickled red onions.
After lunch, the retreat host built in two hours of unstructured time. Some women headed to the gym—kettlebells, squat rack, bikes—while others used the sauna and cold plunge. A few wandered the trails or sat by the pool. The point was to let people choose what their bodies needed.
Meditation and Intention-Setting
The group reconvened in our wellness space for meditation and journaling. The facilitator guided them through exercises to set intentions for the upcoming year—the kind of work that's easier to do when you're not at your kitchen table with your phone buzzing.
Afterwards, people lingered into the late afternoon with light snacks. A few women stayed another night, continuing conversations in the lodge as the day turned to evening
